It is better than "The Love Boat"-and that's not saying much. Nancy Drew is a brilliant teen detective whose sense of self had come from solving mysteries in her hometown of Horseshoe Bay, Maine - until her mother's untimely death derails Nancy's college plans. The picture quality is at times grainy and the soundtrack falters up and down.įor those who loved some of drivel that came out of this era, will definitely enjoy this. I have seen much older material that has had a far superior remastering then this series. The transfer is good, but should be better. Pamela Sue Martin as Nancy Drew (who is only in a few episodes then is played by another actress) walks around with a perpetual chip on her shoulder she thinks is acting and Parker Stevenson, is Parker St evenson-wasting his energy appearing to look like a hunk. Shaun Cassidy does surprisingly well in his role of the younger Hardy Boy-Joe. I never viewed season one, but if it anything like this, I'm skipping it. One redeeming feature is the guest star cast of seasoned TV and motion picture pros.
Classics never date, but this 1978 2nd season release is more of a relic of bygone era. It gives teen idol Shaun Cassidy a venue to sing his tiresome pop songs in the middle of some fairly interesting mystery plots.
This rehash first made by Disney as a serial for "The Mickey Mouse Club", is nothing but dated pop hokum.
